Counselling can be effective in helping with many issues such as: anxiety, depression, bereavement, issues stemming from childhood, problems with anger, relationship difficulties or simply when your life feels stuck or hard to get through and you do not know how to move forward.
I work as a person-centred counsellor. This means that I believe that each of us has the resources within us to change and develop as we need to but these resources can often be blocked or hindered by current circumstances or unresolved issues from the past that we still carry.
In working with you, I would seek to form a working relationship which feels safe and trustworthy to you. I would seek to understand your world as it seems to you and to treat whatever you bring with respect and acceptance. Out of this process of joint exploration, I would hope that you would be able to see your own life and experience with greater clarity and acceptance from which would come change.
Sometimes simply the process of talking and being deeply heard is enough. Sometimes greater understanding can effect how you deal with problems even when there is no external change. At other times, you may find that you need to make changes in your life based on what you now see and feel.
I am a member of the BACP and practice according to their code of ethics.
